Code of Conduct and Ethics
This Code of Conduct and Ethics forms an integral part of the Personal Training Services Contract ("Contract") between James Swift Personal Training, hereinafter referred to as "Trainer," and [Client's Name], hereinafter referred to as "Client."
1. Professionalism
a. The Trainer shall professionally conduct all sessions, demonstrating respect, integrity, and dedication to the Client's fitness goals.
b. Punctuality is essential, and the Trainer commits to maintaining timely commencement and completion of scheduled sessions, unless otherwise communicated due to unforeseen circumstances.
2. Client's Well-being
a. The Trainer acknowledges the paramount importance of the Client's health, safety, and individual fitness goals.
b. Training programs shall be customized based on the Client's specific needs, limitations, and fitness aspirations.
3. Communication
a. The Trainer shall uphold clear, open, and honest communication with the Client regarding training methods, session progress, and expectations.
b. Active listening to the Client's concerns, feedback, and objectives shall be an integral part of the Trainer's approach during sessions.
4. Confidentiality
a. The Trainer respects the confidentiality of the Client's personal information, health status, and progress achieved during training sessions.
b. Confidentiality shall be maintained unless otherwise required by law or with the explicit consent of the Client.
5. Professional Boundaries
a. The Trainer is committed to maintaining appropriate professional boundaries during sessions, refraining from engaging in personal relationships beyond the professional scope.
b. Any behaviour or conversation that may compromise the professional relationship or make the Client uncomfortable shall be strictly avoided.
6. Gift Giving and Conflicts of Interest
a. Both parties mutually agree that no gifts shall be exchanged during the professional relationship to prevent conflicts of interest, undue influence, or perceptions of favouritism.
b. The Trainer commits to transparent financial dealings and avoids practices that could create a perception of bias or favouritism.
7. Continued Education and Development
a. The Trainer recognizes the importance of ongoing learning and professional development, undertaking certifications and staying updated with industry standards to offer the Client the latest knowledge and quality service.
8. Legal and Ethical Standards
a. The Trainer shall comply with all relevant legal requirements, including business licensing, insurance, and certifications necessary for personal training services.
b. Adherence to the ethical standards set by relevant professional organizations or associations is an integral part of the Trainer's professional commitment.
9. Limitation of Services
a. The Trainer explicitly states that they are not a therapist or licensed mental health professional. Consequently, the Trainer cannot provide advice, counselling, or services typically offered by mental health professionals.
b. The Client acknowledges and understands that the Trainer's services are limited to personal training and fitness-related guidance and should seek appropriate professional help for any mental health or therapeutic needs.
10. Governing Law
a. The underlying Contract shall be governed by and construed by the laws of the United Kingdom.
